The one thing you'll hear me continually say (and write) is that I love, love, loveeee the fact that this dream job helps me meet and connect with awesome people. And it's totally true! I'm an introvert by nature, and I've been working on coming out of my shell most of my adult life. The older I get, the more I realize the connections we make with others are what lead to our most happy, cherished memories. The CMB Family in particular is special because they are my first clients that did not share a mutual family or friend connection. The significance of this occurring during my first year in business goes with out saying, but the importance of this on a personal level is worth spending a bit more time noting.
MB reached out to me via my Facebook page with an idea that he wanted to give CB the gift of a family session for Mother's Day, so we quickly made plans to meet up and surprise her with the news on Mother's Day. Not even gonna lie, I totally cried before and after our meetup not only because that is so freakin' sweet, but also because he totally made my Mother's Day without even realizing it! After the initial shock of me bombarding CB in the Starbucks (if only I had my camera that day to get the look on her face 😂), we effortlessly settled into getting to know each other and talking about what they envisioned for their family session. I recall CB saying they like to spend a lot of time outdoors during the non rainy seasons, and they wanted to choose a place that manifested the true beauty and essence of the Pacific Northwest. "And we'll wear something other than animal print this time!" said Bean, the oldest of their two beautiful babes who energetically recounted their last family photo experience. 🤣 I shared my own experience with taking my first family pictures, including the fact that JC who was barely six months old at the time had rolled off the bed about 30 minutes before picture time. They were hooked as I described and shared pictures taken at one of my most favorite places on the planet, and we made plans to meet up for a sunset session the day before Father's Day.
I'm honest and true to life, just like my photography, and so are the CMB Family. Lots of fun moments, sarcasm, and jokes were exchanged as we made the trek through the various beautiful areas of Woodard Bay. Between Bean and Trin reenacting a childhood photo that they took when they were pint size adorable, MB giving me a hard time for saying that the trek through Woodard Bay is a "walk" when it's really more of a "hike" (and you know your girl gave some back!), and them busting up laughing at me every time I broke up the peaceful silence and serenity by shouting things like, "Cocooooo!" in a high pitched voice to grab the attention of their sweet fur baby and one the most well behaved pups on the planet, it was easy to tell that this tight knit family are my kind of people. I cannot wait to spend more time with them in the next few months as we plan for and capture the next important milestone - Bean's 2020 graduation. 😊
